Athlone Community Radio

Athlone Community Radio formed in 2006 as a steering group comprising individuals from community organizations who recognized that a community radio – not-for-profit station would serve the interests of their clients and the general public of Athlone.

It operates as a not-for-profit, volunteer-led radio station. Most of its program makers are volunteers who fulfil roles such as producers, presenters, and researchers. The few paid staff they have are all funded through various government community workplace schemes.

ACR collaborates closely with community groups and organizations in the area, providing them with airtime to discuss their work.
